An Ambulance Chaser for Speaker?

I received an email with a link to a story about Bryan Hughes and litigation filed against Wood County Texas.  The Wood County Commissioner’s Court is being sued for its prayer before meetings and for the words “In God We Trust” on the courtroom wall.  The article reports that Hughes in his capacity as a private attorney is working with the Liberty Institute to defend the County.

I find this pretty interesting.  It looks like Bryan Hughes has become a constitutional defender as a recent makeover – couldn’t possible have anything to do with his quest to become Speaker of the Texas House of Representative’s could it?

Well – I did some digging and I could not find one other case in which Hughes defended the constitution in this manner – but I did find a lot of cases he participated in as a trial attorney…  It thought I would list them below and let you judge for yourself.

Case No:         5:97-cv-00118-DF
Type:              Personal Injury
Counsel:         D. Bryan Hughes for Plaintiff.

This is a case about a guy would worked for a railroad and claimed he was repeatedly exposed to excessive vibration and was required to preform repetitive motions…

Case No:         5:97-cv-001320-DF
Type:              Breach of Contract
Counsel:         D. Bryan Hughes

This is a case where a guy got into an accident.  He let his auto liability insurance lapse and was sued by the guy he hit.  He wanted his insurance to pay for it even though the policy was cancelled due to non-payment.

Judgment:      Judgment in favor of the Defendant.

Case No:         2:98-cv-00161-HWM
Type:              Personal Injury
Counsel:         D. Bryan Hughes

This is about a case where the plaintiff was being transported in a work van and was in an accident.

Case No:         2:98-cv-00081-TH

Case No:         6:99-cv-00425-JKG
Type:              Prisoner Civil Rights
Counsel:         D. Bryan Hughes

This is a case where the plaintiff, a state prisoner, said he was abused by guards.

Judgment:      Dismissed with prejudice.

Case No:         2:01-cv-00024-TJW
Type:              Negligence
Counsel:         D. Bryan Hughes

This is a case about a guy shopping at Walmart and slipped on something “clear and slick” causing him to fall and hurt himself.

Judgment:      Dismissed with prejudice.

There are literally dozens more cases.  I will put them up as I find time – and complete my research.  Bottom line is Bryan Hughes is a fraud – he is a trial lawyer who sues companies with deep pockets to get rich and make all our cost go up.  How he is even a Republican is beyond me!

  1. In case Trucks for Sale in Texas carry a Speaker for the House, then it would really make a controversy.
